Twitter Is Loving These “Plant Crocs”

Love them or hate them, Crocs have become an iconic 21st century footwear staple. The foam clogs aren’t the most attractive shoes in the world, but hey, they’re great for gardening. If you’re a certified plant enthusiast, Twitter has an idea for your next footwear purchase: Monstera-inspired clogs that have been lovingly dubbed “plant crocs.”

Earlier this month, Twitter user @HobbyistPlant took to the platform to share their leafy shoe discovery.

“Plant crocs are a thing,” the Tweet says, along with an image of the leafy shoes, which range in color from a minty light green to a dark forest green. @HobbyistPlant also revealed that the shoes were designed by Unsent Studio.

According to the company’s official Instagram page, the design is officially called “Monstera Mule.” The shoes themselves were inspired by monstera plant leaves found along Spain’s Costa Del Sol.

In the meantime, these “plant crocs” quickly garnered plenty of attention on Twitter, with the Tweet currently receiving over 164,000 likes and 15,000 retweets.

Even Twitter users who were normally against Crocs-like shoes were ready to make an exception for these leafy additions.

“These are the only crocs I’ve found aesthetically pleasing in my life,” one person wrote, while another user chimed in: “They look like salad, I need them.”

Sadly, you won’t be able to get your hands on these shoes just yet. As Unsent Studio’s official Instagram page revealed, the company is still in the early stages of fine-tuning their products.

“We’re in the process of fixing blueprint and Mock-up [shoes] right now,” the company wrote in an August 20 post. “The shape & volume are being refined, and we’re focusing on maximizing the organic atmosphere. There is still a long way to go. Who will be with us on this journey?”

Based on Twitter’s reaction, it seems like plenty of plant lovers are in for the ride.
